EF Student Video Crew

I have some really exciting news to share with you: I am going to be a part of the EF Student Video Crew!
A few weeks ago I saw an announcement on the Facebook page of EF exchange year. This is what it said:

We are looking for students from the Class of ’16 to join our EF Student Video Crew!
As a member of the EF Student Video Crew, you will film your experiences before and during your exchange year and submit your unedited footage to EF for editing by professional videographers. We will create short videos each month to share online, and at the end of the year we will create a longer Exchange Story Documentary.

When I read it, I immediately liked the idea very much. I was already planning on making videos for my blog so I decided to give it a try. To apply, I had to tell why I thought I would be a great fit for the video crew and I had to send a video I made myself.
So I started with making a video in which I told about my placement and showed some parts of my daily live and goodbye party. When that was finished I sent my email and explained why I would love to join the crew.

Then it was just waiting to hear if I could join, because there are only 25 places in the crew. And those aren't only for the students going to the USA, but also for students who'll spend their exchange year in the UK or Ireland.
I hadn't heard anything yet when I got called on Tuesday. I saw that it was a number from Boston in the USA, so I immediately thought about the EF office which is located there. I didn't realize they were calling about the Video Crew though. I thought something went wrong with my flight ticket or my departure date had changed. So when I got the great news that I am selected I couldn't believe it haha, but I'm really happy!

Because I'm part of the crew, I'll receive a Student Video Crew Starter Kit with an iPod touch I can use to film, a t-shirt and more. We'll also attend a training with professional videographers working for MTV and there are monthly prizes for best video challenges.

So, during my exchange year you'll probably see a lot of videos from me! I will film my flight to the USA, the school spirit, the Welcome Days, American holidays and much more. I'm so excited and I can't wait to start filming my experiences!

    Wow, that's so cool!!
I thought about doing it, too, but then didn't do it. But I'm soooo happy for you that you got in.
