Fall break @ Walt Disney World

Hi!
Two weeks ago it was finally time for the first holiday of my year here: fall break! I'm used to having a fall break of one whole week, but in the USA you only get 2 days off school. Luckily there's a weekend right after that so we had 4 days without school. And we spent those days in the best possible way: by visiting Disneyworld in Florida! It was my first time there and I absolutely loved it. This blogpost will be all about our trip.

Wednesday October 14th was my last day of school before fall break. After we got back from school we packed the final things and left! Luckily we live close enough to go to Florida by car, but it was still a pretty long drive. I spent most of the time sleeping, so the car ride went by fast. We arrived at our hotel after midnight. Even though it was really late, I was so excited to be at Disney and to be in a new state (Florida!).

We stopped to have dinner at (of course) Chick-fil-a.

Halfway through!
Just to explain: Walt Disney World consists of four Theme Parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. All the parks are decorated in separate themes and have lots of rides, shows and rollercoasters. My host family has annual passes which means we can get into all the parks whenever we want, which is awesome!

The pretty castle.

The Dutch part in 'It's a small world'.
During our first day in Disney we went to the most famous park: Magic Kingdom. The place with Cinderella's castle and all the fairytale characters. I loved Magic Kingdom because it's such a famous place and it really is 'the happiest place on earth'. At our hotel I had gotten a badge saying: "First visit", which I wore proudly for the rest of the trip! In that way everyone knows you're at Disney for the first time and you get a special treatment, haha. The very first ride we went on was the 'Winnie the Pooh' ride and it was an awesome ride to start with ;) My favorite one was 'Space Mountain'!

In the evening on that day we went to Epcot. Epcot stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, which means it's really futuristic and it includes many modern and new attractions. Epcot consists of two parts: 'Future World' which has all kinds of rides and 'World Showcase', where they built different countries. The first time we only went to 'Future World', where we ended the day with a firework show!

Hollywood Studios
In San Francisco
On our second day we went to another park, 'Hollywood Studios'. My two favorite rides where there: 'Rock 'n' Roller Coaster' and 'Tower of Terror'! Another favorite was the 'Frozen Singalong'. That's a show where all the Frozen characters appear and there's of course a lot of singing! In another part of the park they built New York and San Francisco, which looked pretty accurate.
In the afternoon we visited 'Animal Kingdom', where we went to a show about Nemo and had dinner.

France in Epcot (not my own photo).

The majority of the last day was spent in Epcot, where we visited the 'World Showcase'. It consists of the 11 countries Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom and Canada. I was really surprised by how much it looked alike, having visited 6 of the 11 countries. The French part made me feel a little bit at home, because I've been there a lot! They even had a mini Eiffel Tower.

We had dinner and shopped at Downtown Disney, which is not a park but just a place with restaurants and shops. I bought some postcards and a t - shirt. Of course I wore it the next Monday to school. Our Disney trip ended after the last evening in Magic Kingdom! I absolutely loved it and I'm so thankful that my host family took me there, because not everyone gets this opportunity.

Have you ever been to Disney?
